New Orleans Raccoons: Raccoons in New Orleans can be a real problem if they are in your attic.

"How do I get rid of raccoons in my attic?"  Easy call us!!!

From New Orleans to Baton Rouge , I get asked that almost everyday. We trap them and remove them, and if they are sick or injured they are humanely euthanized by our local Animal Shelter. Trapping raccoons can be dangerous using some of the traps I have found in the stores around here, especially if you get a big one in the trap. As a NWCO It is ILLEGAL to trap and relocate any raccoon or skunk within Louisiana even with a valid permit for nuisance trapping.
D.I.Y Homeowners can find out the State of LA's requirements here as a homeowner you can legally trap and relocate!

Currently it is illegal to live trap and relocate wildlife without a permit from the  Department of Wildlife and Fisheries as an NWCO, except that furbearers may be trapped during the open trapping season by individuals possessing a valid trapping license. A permit is required: outside of the open trapping season; when trapping game animals; when no license is obtained (licenses are generally used by commercial trappers).   Regardless of the reason for the trapping and the conditions of the permit must be adhered to.  There is no fee for the permit, and you will be subject to a background check to obtain the permit.

Warning: It can be dangerous to handle trapped animals. Contact your local parish health unit if a bite has occurred, even animals that appear healthy can carry rabies!
